Happy Half Birthday!!

May 20, 2010 marked my sweet baby boy's half birthday! Graham is now 6 months old and absolutely amazing!

We went to the doctor for his 6 month check up and found he measures the size of a 9 month old.

Weight: 21 lbs 2 oz...........95%
Height: 28 inches long........95%
Head: 18 inches around........90%

His head has evened up with his body now. They were worried that it was too big and that we would have to do an ultrasound on it to make sure all the fluids were moving correctly but they are no longer concerned. He is healthy and perfect.

The doctor was impressed with his ability to focus as long as he does and the strength he has. He can stand longer than most babies before he sits back down. He barely needs us to hold him up. We can just touch the tips of his fingers and he will stay up. He is almost sitting perfectly. Still wobbles a little bit but there is so much of him to keep up, that is expected. When we stand him up next to the couch or a chair or something, he can hold himself up for a while. He has been playing in his johnny jumper and loves it! He gets jumping so hard that he gets a lot of air in it! He has figured out how to walk back and forth in it instead of jumping. I think this baby will be walking before I know it. Maybe we'll skip crawling all together.

Graham has figured out scooting on his back. He hasn't made it on his stomach yet but is very close. He pushes his bum up with is feet and pushes himself around the floor to get to what he wants. We now have to tuck all cords out of the way and put covers on all of the plugs. He likes to push buttons now. He likes to scoot to our sound system and push the buttons on it, turning off everything and making Eric have to redo the whole system every time. We had to take the mobile off of his crib because he scoots up to it and pushes the button to make the music play over and over again. He also reaches up and pulls the animals dangling on it until the bar bent and almost broke it. This kid is definitely a hand full.

Graham has also found his tongue. It is his new favorite thing to play with. He will stick it out constantly and spit or lick his lips. He'll wiggle it around and giggle when we stick ours out at him. This is now his constant face, even in his sleep he will stick his tongue out. It's pretty cute!

Graham still loves his food. We have started giving him a little of our table food and found he loves yogurt and mashed potatoes. He eats a container of baby food for either breakfast or lunch, depending on how I feel, and a bottle to top him off. At night he eats one container of food with rice cereal mixed into it and another without it. Then he usually drinks 5-7oz of milk before he goes to sleep. This kid eats a lot!

Graham is definitely a social butterfly. He gets everyone's attention with how cute he is and then keeps them captivated with his smiles and giggles. We can't go anywhere without receiving tons of compliments and everyone wanting to play with him and make him smile. He is truly the charmer.

Graham is in size 5 diapers and 12 month old clothes! He has now graduated from his first car seat into a reversible larger car seat that will hold him until he is over 60lbs. Hopefully that doesn't come too soon! Those things are expensive!!!

Graham usually sleeps a total of 12 hours at night. Rarely, we get 12 hours straight but usually he sleeps about 7-8 hours, drinks a bottle and then sleeps the rest of the time. He wakes up at 12 hours on the dot! He is like clockwork. He is super stubborn though. He sleeps when he is ready to and refuses to go down any sooner than when he is ready. Many nights we have to just lay him in his crib and let him fuss himself to sleep (he still doesn't really cry, just fusses.) Because he knows how to scoot, we find him in a little ball at the top corner of his crib sound asleep when we go check on him. We have bumper pads around the crib so he won't get stuck in the bars, but he has figured out how to pull them down so he can pull on the bars. He'll probably be pulling himself up soon. This baby is way to smart for us. Everything we do, he figures out a way to get around it and get his way.

He still only has two teeth right now, but I think he teething again. I can't see any teeth yet but he has been super fussy lately and waking up a lot at night and during naps. He is a lot more cranky than usual and constantly chewing on things. There might be news of teeth soon.

Graham loves to grab things. You have to keep everything out of his reach or he will grab it. When we are changing him, he will arch his back until he can reach the wipes and the new diaper, then immediately stick them in his mouth. The second his pj's come off, he grabs them. When we get the shirt over his head, he grabs bottom of the onsie and we have to pry it out of his hands to finish dressing him. He'll grab anything and everything, including my hair and our faces. Even though we try to make him understand that we don't do that, Eric and I still have scratches all over our cheeks from him. How do you tell a 6 month old no? He is a busy busy boy!

Overall, Graham is one happy baby. He is super smart and super cute! We are still amazed by him everyday and love watching him change and grow. It is amazing seeing him learn something new or catch onto how to do something. We couldn't be more proud of our cute baby and are thankful everyday that we have him!
